My First Solo Adventure...

Been thinking a lot lately about the places I'd like to go to in Scotland that are probably a wee bit too far for me to drive from Ayrshire and back home again on the same day so I decided that the only way I'm going to be able to do this, and make it affordable, was to get myself a wee "easy to put up" tent and just go and do it!

So, this past weekend, I did exactly that and headed up to Thurso with my car packed with everything and more that you need for a 3 night camping trip.

I won't go into detail about the trauma of getting there and how I just HAD to spend the first night in a hotel - just so that you know, a journey that should've taken me just over 5 hours to get there, ended up taking me 11 hours!

Anyway, I finally got my tent set up on Saturday morning so I was then ready to hit the road and have camera will travel....

Thurso and the surrounding area, out as far as Bettyhill on the west and Wick, south east of Thurso, did not disappoint - ticked off one of my bucket list destinations as well that day, then on the way home, I went a 60 mile detour just to be able to visit another place on my bucket list.

So, here's a wee collection of some of the photos I took over the whole weekend...

ps. just want to add too, that there were a few things that I didn't manage to get to see, but I would like to go back up there at some point in the future, and go to all those other places.

Onwards and forwards!!

Easter Weekend, 2023 in Skye

Skye is one of my favourite places in the world so I decided that my first solo camping trip of the year would have to be there.

It's a good while since I was last there but on previous visits I always seemed to go to the same places, so this time I made a mental list of some new places that I wanted to explore so on Good Friday, I left the house at 8am and hit the road.

I stopped a few times on the way up there so here are the photos I took, in order of when I visited those places over the course of the weekend...

Newtonmore, Easter 2024

This years original plan was camping on Skye again, but the weather wasn't forecast too great so I decided to go up to friends in Newtonmore and stayed there for a few nights.

Got a chance to visit some new places and some old ones...
